Bach Flowers not only for humans
" Many vets and animal behaviourists have recognised that animals have emotions too. In the field of animal welfare, behavioural scientists use physiological indicators in the body to prove emotional stress experienced by a farm animal kept in over crowded, poorly-lit conditions.
Heart rate, blood pressure and certain hormones a, scientifically speaking are proof of emotional stress, we are much closer to understanding animal unhappiness and suffering than ever before. " *
As Animal Practitioners using the Bach Flower Remedies system, " stress" has connotations that are too general; and as we would analyse an animal in more detail by considering detailed negative emotional states."*
Much the same as children, animals respond quickly to accurately-chosen remedies, and their feelings tend not to be buried in layers of denial.
Humans we use sight, tone of voice and gesture to communicate feelings and distress. With the animals we can share the languages of body posture, sound and scent, but our human view of the world might be alien to that of the animals want to help.
Wrong choices with the selection of the remedies will not make things worse, because they are safe, however they may not help. The Bach remedies selection is based entirely on the personality and emotional state of the animal.
As soon as I became a Dr. Bach Flower Remedie Practitioner, as I love animals in general and in particular dogs, I needed to follow an approved programme of education and assessment to extend my practice to my beloved furry friends.
Dianna ( my adorable american cocker spaniel in the photo ) was a rescue dog who was left by the previous
owner at the Tierheim in Switzerland. I had her for 14 years but I have been lucky to have many different species from birds, turtles, fish,
horse, cats and different dog breeds. In my youth I had the privilege to spend time with my grandparents at their farm
where I could enjoy the funny chickens, cows and ducks. In a few words, I have been with animals a lot.
Being close to them and observing their behaviour I developed my interest in their behaviour, making me laugh when they were
silly or to be worried where they were sick, like Dianna when she was terrified by fireworks or travelling in a car.
All animals experience emotional and behavioural problems, no matter if they are birds, farm animals or reptiles but on our top list we choose as pets or our companion are mostly dogs and cats because we believe that we can have better interaction and easily recognise when they have a problem. ( This is Page last year in NZ ).
On the other hand, that also means to have a complex cross species interactions ( ie. human-animal issues) that are often at the root of many emotional or behavioural problems.
The Back Flower remedies are absolutely safe and do not interact with any medical prescription as well as any physical disorders.
The remedies can alleviate Anxiety and Fear based problems, Frustration, Mental anguish, Depression, Shock and Trauma are just few of the negative feelings and emotional behaviour that our beloved ones may be suffering, we should never underestimate these issues as we love them and want them to be happy and serene and to enjoy their company. Pay attention to those signals.
How does it work with a BFRAP's as the animals cannot tell us how they feel or what emotions they are experiencing ?
Through questions and owner explanation it should be easier to understand better what an animal's behaviour means and this will help us select more precise and helpful remedies.
As a Bach Foundation Registered Animal Practitioner ( BFR AP) I have been trained to objectively observe the behaviour of animals but of course the major role is also listening carefully to the owner and ask questions. I do not attempt to make a diagnose, treat or prescribe for any condition falling under the scope of medical or veterinary practice. I offer informal and general help unless the owner carries a referral form, enabling me to work together with your routine vet, to ensure the most beneficial and appropriate care for your pet. I can teach the owner about Dr. Bach's system.
A pet can change his/her behaviour or acting differently or showing different attitude. Few examples :
a dog is absolutely fine but is scared of thunderstorms and ran out or whining desperately
a cat is isolating himself from the rest of the family
a cat urinates outside if somebody comes in the house
a dog continues to suck at the area where he got a previous skin issue
a pet shakes when the owner prepares to go out
Location and schedule : a consultation of 45/60 minutes observing and listening the owner, not interacting with the animal. To make the consultation comfortable and safe for the animal, for me and the owner, I have selected a wonderful location in the country side close to Godalming where nature and a peaceful environment don't upset our fury friends.
Wednesday Afternoon : Clock Barn Studio , Hambledon Road, Godalming, Surrey GU8 4AY .
Consultation : £ 60
Dr. Bach remedies are not a quick fix solution but rather a dedication to longer term well being.
Please bear in mind of my following :
-
I do not take on cases where the level of aggression shown by the animal is outside my expertise
-
I do not visit at home
-
I do not analyse behaviour over the telephone or by email for animals I have not physically seen
-
I don't take on a case if I think is outside my abilities and I might refer them to qualified people whether other practitioners licensed medical practitioners veterinary surgeons or other professionals or professional organisations.
I hold a Certificate as Dr. Bach Foundation Registered Animal Practitioner ( BFRAP's) and it is important to stress that I can support the animals always operating under referral from a veterinary.
I am an internationally registered practitioner with Bach Foundation ( BFRAP's) as well as a member of the CMA (Complementary Medicine Association).
